Members of BEE field staff have diverse educational backgrounds and life experiences. However, they all possess one similar quality: A strong desire to provide students with exceptional educational experiences. BEE instructors are also given much latitude in terms of designing and running programs that dynamically respond to students' needs, interests and goals.

Instructors work together drawing from each others' individual skills and backgrounds to formulate a cohesive course vision. By embracing a "flat' organizational structure, and minimizing traditional heirarchy as much as possible, we strongly encourage each member to take ownership of their success and the success of their team.

While the framework for the course is defined by the BEE Global administration, the team's curriculum is shaped by each instructor's personalities, experiences, areas of interest, contacts and resources developed over years. The combination of the flat heirarchical structure of the teams and the uniqueness of each instructor's personality and and life experience makes for a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

With the high-level goal of encouraging our students to challenge their personal limits and to supporting them throughout their journey, each intructor must understand and embrace the following:

  • You are positive, enthusiastic, empathetic, and caring.
  • You are passionate about the power of "real-life" experience and cultural immersion.
  • You yourself are an explorer of life, an adventurer in spirit, and as such, you understand the real benefits of being outside your comfort zone. You also take a responsible approach to stepping outside of your comfort-zone, praccticing discernment and prudence with respect to it.
  • You are responsible for leading safe, conscientious and professional programs which are sensitive to the needs and issues of our students and local communities.
  • You are attentive to risk issues and committed to the physical and emotional safety of the student group. You must adhere to and maintain high standards of safety and risk management throughout the course.
  • You'll work within a team of co-instructors to facilitate successful group dynamics and to nurture growth and learning within each student.
  • You'll offer formal and informal lessons throughout the course on subjects as wide-ranging as history and culture, geology and weather, language, politics, development, and ethical wilderness travel.
  • You're sensitive to students' needs as they process their experiences and observations.
Confidence in yourself and what you can add to these students' experience is vital. For these students, you are leaders, friends, safe-keepers, and role models. Leading a BEE Global program demands flexibility, dedication and commitment. These are a small price to pay for the uncommon rewards you'll reap from a successful course. Many instructors finish their course feeling that it was the most fulfilling experience of their lives.
Compensation for the Field Instructor position at BEE Global is generous, considering the most rewarding part of the experience is not financial.

This said, the financial components of compensation are:

$1,500 to $2,000 depending on the duration of the course.
